Dr. David Bray, Jr., M.D., is plastic surgeon based in the South Bay region of Los Angeles, California. He is one of the few physicians in the United States–and the only one in South Bay–who has earned the distinction of becoming certified by all three of the nation s prestigious plastic surgery boards: The American Board of Plastic Surgery, The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and The American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
South Bay native Bray received his undergraduate degree from Colgate College before he attended the Medical College of Virginia to receive his M.D. He then completed a five-year residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Maryland before he moved onto a plastic surgery residency at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. During his training, Bray scored in the top 1% on the National Plastic Surgery In-Service Exam. His other educational distinctions included a second-place research award from the Maryland Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and the Gold VA Pin Award from the VA Maryland Health Care System.
Dr. Bray is committed to continuing education and to learning all he can about the most cutting-edge surgical procedures. As such, he has become a pioneer in several new and exciting developments in the aesthetic surgery world, including endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, post-operation pain management techniques, and the use of cosmetic surgery procedures to cure migraine headaches. He has also written and presented papers on the use of gene therapy as a treatment for head and neck cancer.
Recognized for his ongoing research on pain control after abdominoplasty, Bray has presented at a number of meetings and conferences, and his articles have been published in several prestigious journals. His past presentations have included: The Efficacy of a Local Anesthetic Pain Pump in Abdominoplasty at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting; Vascular Disorders of the Hand at the Memorial Hermann Hospital Plastic Surgery Grand Rounds; and Combination Adenovirus-mediated RB94 Gene Therapy and Cisplatin in a Murine Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma Model at the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Annual Meeting.
Bray is enthusiastic about philanthropy and has traveled abroad twice on surgery missions, to Armenia, Columbia and Ixtapa, Mexico. During both trips, he performed Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery for patients in need. He is also a proud supporter of the charity organizations Vistas for Children, Inc; Operation San Jose; and Face to Face.
Dr. Bray, Jr currently operates a private practice, where his mission is to provide his patients with superior care, cutting-edge techniques, and outstanding results.
